​Diamondback Terrapin (Malaclemys terrapin) Monitoring Program

An iconic Long Island species and essential to maintain a balanced ecosystem, Diamondback terrapins are facing serious population decline and YOU can help!
Goal: Monitor and record the distribution of Diamondback terrapins in our region by recording any sign of terrapin presence. 
If you would like to help monitor terrapins, we have a schedule containing suggested times for monitoring on the bay side of Centre Island Beach. If interested just put your name(s) under the preferred date and time, feel free to sign up for multiple dates or times. You may also feel free to contribute to the survey outside of the suggested times.
