John Taylor
John Taylor, of Bayville, is a retired advertising executive and now is engaged in funding and advising startup companies in the marketing, publishing and digital broadcasting areas. Taylor began his career in advertising in 1973 and worked for top national advertising agencies, co-founding his own agency in 1986, which grew to handle top Fortune 500 clients throughout North and South America.
He was elected a trustee of the Village of Bayville in 2014, during which time he was liaison to the Bayville Environmental Conservation Commission and the Bayville Public Library, he also represented Bayville on the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor Protection Committee, which is comprised of all municipalities and governments with jurisdiction of the lands within the Oyster Bay watershed. Taylor chaired the Bayville Anti-Tunnel Committee and was also a co-founder of the Coalition Against an Unsound Crossing, which was successful in its efforts to prevent the cross-Sound tunnel project from proceeding. Taylor was founder and president of The Windmark Sailing Foundation, a non-profit charitable foundation that supports competitive sailors in Olympic, international and national regattas. He was also a founding member and trustee of Oakcliff Sailing. As a landscape and seascape painter he is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists, the Art League of Long Island, the North Shore Art Guild, and serves on the board of Directors of the New York School of the Arts.
