Horseshoe Crabs and Friends is an exhibition in conjunction with Hive Market & Gallery celebrating the diverse marine life of the Long Island Sound estuary, with a special focus on the Atlantic horseshoe crab (Limulus polyphemus) —an ancient species that has survived for more than 450 million years.
Artists are invited to create original works inspired by horseshoe crabs and other Long Island marine wildlife. A limited number of naturally molted horseshoe crab shells will be available to use as canvases; no animals were harmed in their collection. Additional works in various media featuring local coastal species are also welcome.
